Honors English 12 (April 24, 2008)

In Class:

We finished reading Daniel Defoe's A Journal of the Plague Year...while simultaneously making a mental note the Defoe never experienced the plague first-hand (technically). He relied upon the stories told by his uncle Henry Foe (many assume this to be H.F.--Daniel's narrator) , and other historical documents, to tell his "Journal".

In doing this (aforementioned), you were to write your own "account" of one historical instance that occurred during your lifetime (circa 1989 through 2008). YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMEMBER THIS INSTANCE AND IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE CATASTROPHIC! Pretend that you encountered the event first hand--even if you don't remember it--like Defoe--and write a one-page journal reflection as if you were the "experienced" like H.F. in A Journal of the Plague Year. We'll be finishing this tomorrow (April 25) in the classroom.

We are looking at a a final Eighteenth Century and Restoration exam on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week (April 29 or 30, 2008)! Write it down!

NO ASSIGNMENT, BUT work on your Research!
