Average English 12 (October 30--31, 2007)

In Class:

October 30, 2007:

  • Finished overview and discussion of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight on pgs 159-165 in the text
  • Also, finished Plot Structure Diagram for excerpt of the story. Your Plot Structure Diagram is due for ten points (10 pts).

October 31, 2007:

  • Read the biography of Sir Thomas Malory on pg 169 in the text
  • Learned new literary term: the Romance Hero (pg 170 in the text)
  • Began Reading Le Morte Darthur (The Death of Arthur) on pgs 170-175 in the text

ASSIGNMENT:

Your coinciding assignment is to summarize and assess each paragraph of the text as if the text in your book were an article your were summarizing. The terms in Malory's script are tough, and at the very least archaic, so the purpose of this assignment is to deduce the script to colloquial terms...and of course, seek a better understanding of the legendary King Arthur's death/ disappearance.
